▶High rigidity and durability
Despite its thin-wall structure, the valve lifter is subject to continuous "beating" by the camshaft during engine operation, requiring high rigidity and durability. To meet these strict requirements, SCM420H (chromium molybdenum steel), which is cold-forged for superior strength and toughness, is used for the material, which is then carburized and quenched to obtain a hard surface with excellent wear resistance and a tough interior.
▶Excellent sliding properties
Since the valve lifter moves up and down while rotating, it is also important to reduce friction. A specification, a salt bath soft nitriding treatment (only for Gr. A camshafts), which adds sliding properties as well as wear resistance, and a lube light treatment, which improves oil retention, are used. This ensures high sliding performance even in the high RPM range, and the camshaft profile is accurately followed to bring out the true performance of the camshaft.
